The coast in the Portmeirion has some great beaches which are worth visiting even in October (honest) Try some of these and do read the RNLI advice about water safety.
Portmeirion Beach is located right below the village, featuring white sand, hidden caves, and coves. Access requires entering Portmeirion Village. Swimming is strictly not advised due to fast and dangerous tidal currents. Dogs are not allowed on this beach.
Black Rock Sands (Morfa Bychan) is located about 4 miles northwest of Portmeirion near Porthmadog. A massive, wide stretch of golden sand where cars are traditionally allowed to drive onto parts of the beach. It features rock pools, caves, and great views of the Cardigan Bay coastline.
Harlech Beach is about 5 miles south of Portmeirion. A pristine, immense expanse of golden sand backed by the sand dunes of Morfa Harlech National Nature Reserve and overlooked by Harlech Castle. It is ideal for long, quiet walks.
The Llyn Peninsular has some fine beaches such as at Criccieth which sports two for good measure!
Heading to the coast or out on the water is a great way to have fun and stay active. But, if you’re not careful, it’s a lot easier to get into trouble in the water than you might think. Conditions can change quickly and if you’re not prepared, you can easily get caught out. Check out the advice from the RNLI and if you pass a lifeboat station make a donation.
